I saw this new post in the LQ forum.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...4&goto=newpost I wonder if its content can be clarified, please? Specifically this paragraph... Quote:
I'm sure all insiders would be interested to know. Richard in Oztralia

True, but it's all speculation at this moment. Linspire will probably not isue a press-release with a message that they are near bakcrupcy ![]() |

Cloudy, that WAS NOT MY QUESTION.
You and I have been around for years. That one short reply from you does not respond to concerns that WE THE INSIDERS likely have - if not before, certainly now. Poor communication, my friend, which as most of us know, has dogged the project for years. I would have thought that while we have no right in law to know what's going on, some sort of an indication might be handy as to whether there is any substance in the rumour. And now you have added a second rumour. Is there any substance in that, mate? Even by PM - so at least awareness of what NOT to say to others is there. Now you have created real concern, I'm afraid. It's over 24 hours since the post of which I gave the url was made, and a reply is needed one way or the other. Pity, it was a good project, and we did have a good team. Richard

I think you have a short memory, that is not poor communication, they are selective on what they say to insiders. Information leaked away from insiders in the past, so now this is why we get no more good information like we were getting back then.

So it was the alleged inability of Insiders to keep confidences that led to the crunching of the Insider programme and the current dearth of information? You learn something every day! ![]() |

Well I do know that some "BETA's" made it to the general public and those were only available to Insiders back then (and Linspire's developers offcourse). you will unfortunatly only find some "rotten apples" in these groups |

Well : Was is closed because of this ? Insiders were generally now aware of the important stuff. Mostly we were only informed 24 hours before the press-release as a service to us. they could ask to sing a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) like Lex did when he started his new project (and since I signed that NDA I can't say more about it ) but even that wouldn't help much. |

Yes because M$ can afford this... Not Linspire, dont you remember that in the last news Linspire never made any profits? So when you spend more money than you do, you want to keep some projects secret until they are ready. ![]()

Looks like I opened a can of worms, lol.
I should be sorry I asked, but it is really good to know things, particularly when you feel that you (and others) are being watered and fed as though we are mushrooms lolol )When you sit back and see what comes tumbling out as a result, it can be "interesting". Sorry fellas, didn't deliberately do that to you. Richard from Oz Where there are no yellow brick roads

All
this is very interesting, but the subject of this thread is Kevin
Carmony, and if y'all just want to talk about Debian <yuck!>,
then would someone please be kind enough to tell me where I might look
to find more information on what Kevin is doing and perhaps why?
Thanks,

Don't know if that was a good advice Mike. That site (blog) is "biased" and "censured" so to say. Smart KC allows only reactions which he would have could written himself and so creates again a "possitive look" at himself. (No sign of i.e. my personal post there and I can only guess because that wasn't about being "possitive" about him

I kinda figured that eventually more of the story would be told.

Patrick, it's usually the way.
And from my gut feeling going back a while, I think he had to do what he did to maintain personal sanity. I've been involved in high-level brawls in the work environment on a couple of occasions, and my experience was that eventually I would have to totally toe the "party line" or as an exclusive alternative, be my own person. I chose the latter as I can't put up with the former. Edit typo "puit" fixed 18 Sept That's why (in politics) I'm what is classified as a "swinging voter" - one who thinks for himself and will vote for the local candidate who will represent the constituency in the best interests of the local community. And senatorially (the upper house whose constituency is the whole state), I group those who I think will do least damage in that order on the ballot paper. Remember we have a voting system where we number the candidates preferentially, rather than one X in one box for us. There's for and against both methods. I've only once been a member of any political party, back in my native Wales, when in about 1960 I joined the Welsh nationalists (Plaid Cymru) after seeing bulldozers go in with court orders to demolish a Welsh farmer's fertile livelihood to make water storage for an English industrial city a couple of hundred miles away. I was working as a supervisor at the government rocket range at the time, and I'm sure what I did contributed to an attitude which forced my eventual departure for Australia lol ![]() Onya mate! (as we say here) Richard in Oz, where roads are becoming yellow cake rather than brick.

Good you are able to show a lot of understanding Richard. I can go a long away with that but ... got "bottomlines" I never cross. He should have told us some more of the truth and don't disappear in the night playing the role of a shining star, being a falling star in fact. As a insider (a true friend of what once was Lindows/Linspire) this guy stabbed me (all of us) in the back, just like that.. My more then 2 cents on this. (I give some more if asked for) ![]()

I
would not blame Kevin for not saying more. Odds are he signed a
nondisclosure agreement before leaving, and I know he had one when he
was there. So if there was some sort of disagreement on where Linspire
was heading, odds are, he would have never legally been allowed to say
anything. Having met Kevin before and actually hung out with him a bit,
he is a heck of a nice guy, and if he could tell everyone, I would
guess he would.

That turns out not to be true, actually. I've seen more than one comment on that blog that is seriously critical of Kevin, both for his work as president of Linspire and for his recent statements. Regards,
