The new Launch-button in beta 2 is very beautiful.

It occupies quite a lot of screen space (three and a half normal icons wide), but for newbies it is good to have a big and easy to spot button. Any plans to provide a smaller button (one icon wide) as an alternative for those who want that instead? It could just have the graphic and no text.

Another question, is your intention to translate the word "Launch" into other languages in the future? My mother just had a peek at beta 2 and her first comment was, what does that word, Launch, mean? "Start" is probably a more obvious word for those with limited knowledge of English. On the other hand, it is a bit strange having to click the Start-button to shut down the computer (like in Windows). What about "Go"?

There is an option, but currently no control panel for it. We'll add that at some point, I'm sure.

In the meantime, edit /etc/kde3/kickerrc, find the [KMenu] and change 'ShowText = true' to 'ShowText = false'.

what i think would be nice would be if you could actually change/customize the Launch icon itself --i agree that it is good for newbies, but it takes up valuable space, and i just like the L better. what would be cool is if i could right click on launch, and there would be a button thingy that said launch icon, and it would give you a list of icons that you could use for the lauch button.
a similar thread about the launch button

Better use of real estate, but Houston we have a problem. The spire doesn't fit on the button (button needs to be slightly bigger)…

I too like the new launch button - it makes it look much more user freindly.

yes. Nice launch button. As far as launch or start, you don't know what either one does until the first time you click on it.

Mr. Clifford,
As long as you're givin us peeks and pokes ........ ( old Commodore terms ) cud ya give us the magic way to disable the way the desktop icons get resorted EVERY time we start up???????
It shows your last configuration for about 1/4 second then " has it's way with ya " ...........................
I turned off the resort icons in CNR, and removed the sorticons thingy in autostart................ but evidentely that's not enuff ......... is there sumthin like one of them " jiffysort " thingies hiding somewhere????

I think the Launch menu thingy is cool, but " Menu " would be OK and sounds delicious ............ makes me think of food ......... Mmmmm Mmmmm ... hahaha

Launch Icon is OK for now. When you use the option to enlarge icons on mouse over (don't know exact option since not at home to check) the Launch icon shows the green arrow. Not sure if this suppose to happen. Launch icon should probably be left alone with mouse over setting.

I was actually talking about icon zooming when hovering over the launch button.
