I have the file njcom223.exe on my hard drive (though I don't know where it came from, I inherited it I guess) and AVG reported this morning that it held a Trojan:

Trojan Horse PSW.OnlineGames.PLZ in njcom223.exe

Why it hasn't reported it in previous days, weeks, months I don't know.. because I certainly haven't just installed the file. Can Trojans get into your system and choose a file to infect and add themselves to the file? Could this have happened?

Is anyone aware of problems with njcom223.exe?

My file is 5,862kbytes on a winXP system and was apparently last modified on 15/3/2001

I also have the same problem. Why has this just shown up? I also had AVG flag one of the upgrade files as having the same trojan horse.

It's not the only 'just show up' thing I get from AVG, either. I've posted on their forums and I'm waiting a reply.

My njcom.exe file is still there and apparently the same size - so I don't know what AVG has done about it. Not deleted it or moved it to the quarantine and if it has 'healed' it I find it strange there's no change in size. It's all a bit of a mystery.

If njcom223.exe lives alone, it was the v2.23 shareware setup/install file. It was created using an old setup program that has now been discontinued. It could be a false alarm that AVG detected as a Trajan.

We have been in v2.7 for more then 2 years now. so no point to keep that old file, just delete it.

That's a satisfactory end to that - it just leaves the question of what AVG thinks it is doing with its 'heal' and 'quarantine' etc..
